SUMMARY

Provide plumbing labor support to the Public Works Department (PWD).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment within facility infrastructure such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, showers, fixtures, fittings, appliances and specialized equipment. Work does not include pipefitter work to be conducted on the installation’s main distribution systems. Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall, and proper operation of systems and equipment. Install, modify, and repair systems like those described above by locating and tapping main lines, setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, placing hangers for proper level and slope, and determining and installing valves, traps, and unions needed for proper operation of systems. Install equipment by completing the routing and placement of systems leading to the equipment, and seating, hooking up, and testing the equipment. Apply knowledge of the operations of various systems and equipment, including their placement, slant, and slope, and be responsible for the layout and completion of installations, modifications, and repairs with little or no guidance. Test, inspect, repair, and certify backflow preventers. Respond to plumbing repair and maintenance trouble calls. Calls are received by the Regional Call Center, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. May be required to respond after normal duty hours. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
