Job Overview The incumbent assembles, installs and repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes; studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. The Plumber maintains various mechanical supply and drains lines; to include clearing clogged lines, repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, conduct preventative maintenance on pumps, water filters, water heaters, high- and low-pressure steam lines, gas lines, gas meters, gas fixtures, gas regulators, vessels, drains and other plumbing appliances. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and maintains all plumbing and its associated components, i.e., waterless urinals, eye washing/safety showers, floor drains, sinks, tubs, toilets, urinals, basins, faucets, lavatories, water fountains, showers, garbage disposals, etc. Inspects, maintains, repairs, replaces, and modifies non-privatized backflow prevention devices of facility, industrial, and irrigation systems. Performs cross connection inspections. Removes backflow prevention devices no longer required, such as those connected to abandoned irrigation systems or demolished facilities. Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and maintains all water heaters (gas, electric, steam) and associated control and safety devices. Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools, cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine, bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe bending machine, or other means. Assembles and installs valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals. Performs basic electrical wiring for water heaters, pumps, and control devices. Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions. Performs on-call and preventive maintenance duties. Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task. Performs periodic stock inventories to prepare material requisitions for replacement. Operates customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High School Diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of relevant work experience. Shall be licensed in accordance with State law unless under the direct supervision of a technician having the appropriate licensure in accordance with State law. Current State Backflow Certification. Journeyman Plumber. Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card. Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations. Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position. Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).
