Freese and Nichols, Inc. is seeking an experienced plumbing designer to join our growing mechanical and plumbing team.
Our Mechanical and Plumbing team provides a wide variety of services to the water and wastewater industry, municipal, government, federal, educational facilities, commercial, and private practice clients. As a plumbing designer, you will leverage your technical experience to successfully execute and deliver projects from inception to final client submittal, with occasional minimal construction phase services. In this role, you will work with multi-discipline and highly interactive teams to deliver study, design, and construction phase services to our clients. To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate strong plumbing design knowledge, leadership abilities, interpersonal skills, communication skills, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
Serve as lead plumbing designer for projects such as commercial, light industrial, facilities, along with plumbing design support for pump stations, treatment plants, and drainage structures
Perform and review design calculations, and understand plumbing design principles
Maintain effective communication with client and client’s staff, when necessary, with regulatory agencies and within project teams
Participate in project development activities including engineering scope and fee preparation, proposal preparation. Also, a commitment to client service for both internal and external clients
Eagerly and proactively seek answers and assistance necessary to perform tasks and meet deadlines within budget
Occasional travel to client or project sites
QualificationsRequired:
10+ years’ experience in Plumbing Design
Preferred:
CPD or CPDT Certification
PE License in the State of Texas
Fire Protection Design experience
Revit software experience
Key Skills and Attributes:
Ability to self-direct and work on multiple assignments at once while meeting project deliverable dates and completing other task-driven assignments
Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a project team and oversee excellent quality of work
Demonstrate technical proficiency in plumbing design per industry standards (ASPE, IPC, NFPA)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
