Job Title: Plumbing Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Engineer to develop standards for plumbing and fire protection design documents. This includes creating drawings, sprinkler design criteria specifications, preliminary hydraulic calculations, fire pump selection, and code analysis. The successful candidate will conduct field surveys, review architectural and engineering drawings for code compliance, and design plumbing and fire protection systems. Attendance at project team meetings to coordinate space requirements and equipment distribution is also required.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop standards for plumbing and fire protection design documents, including drawings, sprinkler design criteria specifications, preliminary hydraulic calculations, fire pump selection, and code analysis.Conduct field surveys of existing conditions and assist the construction administration department in reviewing plumbing and fire protection system installations.Review architectural and engineering drawings for conformance with model and local codes, as well as NFPA standards.Research model and local codes, as well as nationally recognized standards to support project code compliance.Design plumbing systems (e.g., central domestic water heating plants, backflow preventers, medical gas, etc.) and fire protection systems (e.g., NFPA 13, fire pumps, hydraulic calculations).Attend project team meetings (Architect, Engineers, Construction Manager, Owner, etc.) throughout the design process to coordinate space requirements for plumbing and fire protection equipment and distribution routing for these systems.Essential Skills10-15 years of experience in a similar role within an engineering or related environment.Knowledge of the design of plumbing and fire protection systems.Familiarity with Autodesk REVIT MEP, AutoCAD MEP, and Microsoft Office.Professional Engineer license.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with piping design.Strong understanding of hydraulic design.Skills in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design.Work Environment

The work environment involves a hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office one week and 4 days the next week. The office specializes in the design of building systems for a diverse range of projects, including academic, commercial, cultural, healthcare, historic, municipal, residential, and sustainable projects. The team is committed to delivering innovative and sustainable design solutions to a broad spectrum of clients.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $160000.00
