Plumbing Supervisor

Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,200 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Plumbing Supervisor in our Health Systems Physical Plant (HSPP) Department, who is responsible for providing leadership, customer service, and stewardship supporting Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service. HSPP provides maintenance services and project oversight to over four million square feet of patient care, research, and academic spaces. UVA Health facilities consist of a 700-bed hospital, Level I trauma center, nationally recognized cancer and heart centers, Children’s Hospital, and primary and specialty clinics throughout Central Virginia. 

As the Plumbing Supervisor you will be in a working supervisory role, leading your team in day-to-day maintenance activities, while assuring the quality of your team’s work. You will manage and schedule preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as develop processes for efficiently coordinating short- and long-term workloads. You will work with crews to solve advanced technical problems relating to their discipline. In addition to ensuring safe work practices and code compliance, you will be responsible for performance management of supervised staff. You will be expected to provide positive leadership in a manner that reinforces the University's commitment to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities:

Engage with zone customers through professional written and verbal communications. To include communications for planned and emergency outages.

Manage installations, preventative maintenance, and repairs on plumbing systems, to include medical gas systems.

Delegate assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.

Ensure regulatory requirements are completed on time and accurately documented.

Recommend or initiate personnel actions and administer organization's policies for the department.

Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers on upcoming projects within the zone.

Solve technical problems and keeps current of new products and techniques.

Foster a safe work environment by instructing and monitoring compliance of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Four years journey level experience in licensed trade discipline and two years supervisory and leadership experience

Plumbing Journeyman or Master level license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Extensive experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)

Extensive experience using various Microsoft applications (excel, word, outlook

Construction or maintenance experience in a health care

Experience working in a health care or patient care environment

Extensive knowledge of NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code

Knowledge of other NFPA codes and Joint Commission Standards

Experienced user of Asset Works “AiM,” and Tableau

ASSE 6040 Certified

Selected candidates will be required to complete all required background checks, including a health screen prior to the first day of employment.

Compensation:

The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $32.50.00/hr. - $38.50hr, with actual starting pay based upon candidate’s experience. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
