The Opportunity

Our Core Lab business currently has an opportunity for a PMO Program Manager for our Irving, TX location. The primary function of this position is to manage multiple projects of moderate to high complexity through the complete project lifecycle for Abbott Automation Solutions Business Unit involving global cross functional teams focusing on the delivery of new or commercially available products ensuring completion within time and budget and complying with quality management requirements. Builds, leads, and develops direct reports to select and use appropriate project management tools manage project risks. Responsible to establish and improve PMO processes.    

What You’ll Work On

Accountable for total project scope of R&D new product development projects; completion within budget constraints and scheduled completion date.  Independently drives decisions for elevations and develops high complexity plans.Actively conducts project or program risk assessments and critical path analyses to ensure team deliverables are being appropriately tracked and met.Identifies and escalates program issues to ensure effective resolution in a timely manner.Lead process improvements of different complexity.Lead cross-functional teams or direct reports to execute projects with problem solving methodology.prepare and present written and oral reports and other presentations to internal and external audiences, including senior management, while adjusting presentation style and content to suit the audience.Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness & compliance to the AAS quality system.Ability to develop and drive strategic business initiatives and provides leadership and guidance to other project managers.Accountable for schedule management, and project documentation including design history files in accordance with internal design control requirements & stage gate review or similar.Drive cross-functional teams to meet milestones and deliverables established in project planning and agreed upon with senior and executive leadership.Identify problems, provides guidance to team for resolution, elevates as appropriate and manages issue resolution.Accountable for resource and budget management of multiple projects or programsCreates a work environment that supports team effectiveness.  Provides feedback & mentoring to team members on performance.Leads the decision-making process by soliciting the cooperation of a diverse group of disciplines and functions in a tactful and persuasive manner. Reaches out to cross functional leadership to resolve or escalate issues as needed.Hires, builds, and retains a high-performing, diverse, and highly qualified staff and provides ongoing performance feedback. Sets goals which align to department plans and manages the execution of goals through coaching and mentoring. Maintains a safe and professional work environment.Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Or closely related discipline. Master’s Degree is preferred.Minimum 8 years of experience in Science, Engineering, or equivalent background.Disciplinary management experience required. This includes identification and development of new talents and regular feedback conversations to address performance issues.

Preferred Qualifications

Lean Six Sigma, Project Management Certification (PMP) desirable.Desired knowledge of new product development process principles and experience working in stage gate process.Advanced working knowledge of project management tools and processes, including Microsoft Office applications.Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.  Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.Ability to travel approximately 25%, including internationally.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
