Main Key Responsibilities:

 

The ideal PMO should possess a combination of strong project management expertise with ability to provide necessary support to the various teams involved, process and governance knowledge, stakeholder management skills, and the ability to mentor and build capacity within the organization.

 

Project scoping:        

 

Developing and maintaining project management standards and best practices; Developing and implementing project management processes; Leading, coordinating, and supporting the project management teams within an organization; Manage project portfolios to ensure alignment with business objectives; Provide guidance, documentation, and tools to ensure that projects are executed on time, within budget, and to stakeholders' satisfaction; Assessing project performance and identifying areas for improvement;

 

Governance:

 

Monitoring budget, activity tracking, schedule, and other project-related metrics such as KPIs and helping project managers with resource management; Reporting project performance to senior management; Mitigating risks and resolving issues as they arise; Facilitating communication between stakeholders; Help project managers with tools, training, and developing their skills; Scheduling of meetings/connects to ensure optimum collaboration;

Support:

 

Help Project Managers and other stakeholders improve their skills through training, coaching, and mentoring on Project Management skills; Ensure adequate tools and other resources, including templates, guidelines, and best practices, are available to the teams; Ensure sufficient subject matter expertise is available to the project teams; Facilitate stakeholder management and help PMs remove impediments; Helps identify risks and mitigate those through project monitoring.

 

 

Requirements:

 

A master’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field; Professional certifications, such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2, are highly desirable; Over 5 years of experience in similar roles; Extensive experience in managing complex, multi-faceted projects across various domains. Deep understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile). Proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to stakeholder satisfaction; Expertise in developing and implementing project management processes, policies, and standards; Experience in establishing and maintaining project management frameworks and governance structures; Ability to assess and improve existing project management practices within the organization; Proficiency in portfolio and program management, including aligning projects with strategic objectives; Expertise in project prioritization, resource allocation, and portfolio optimization; Experience in managing multiple concurrent projects and programs; Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels; Ability to facilitate discussions, resolve conflicts, and manage stakeholder expectations; Experience in reporting project performance to senior management and key stakeholders; Proven experience in providing training, coaching, and mentoring to project managers and teams; Ability to identify and address skill gaps within the project management community; Expertise in selecting and implementing appropriate project management tools and technologies; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate project risks and issues; Ability to make data-driven decisions and provide recommendations based on project performance data; Adaptability and flexibility to handle changing project requirements and priorities; Familiarity with various project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello); Understanding of emerging technologies and their impact on project management practices; Ability to interpret and analyse project-related data and metrics.
