PMO Projects Support Specialist

 

to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Vigo (Spain), but also Hamburg (DEU50), Helsinki (FIN), Vaasa (FIN), Leicester (GBR), Trieste (ITA), Drunen (NLD), Esposende (PRT) are possible locations. 

 

What you will be doing

 

As PMO Project Support Specialist, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple SLS locations, contribute to the strategic development of the department, and grow your expertise in project management within a dynamic and global environment.

 

As PMO Project Support Specialist, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

Leading the Development of Project Management Methods & PMO Maturity Take ownership of internal initiatives to enhance project management capabilities across SLS, for both internal projects and customer deliveries. Define, update, and maintain project management frameworks, methodologies, and tools to drive excellence. Lead the development of structured knowledge repositories (e.g., lessons learned, risk databases) to ensure continuous improvement. Act as a key link between project management and other departments to develop and refine project-related processes. Lead initiatives to improve project tracking, risk management, and reporting tools, ensuring efficiency and transparency. Identify and implement best practices in collaboration with other Wärtsilä project management teams. Providing Support to Project Managers & Ensuring Continuity Support Project Managers in daily project execution, providing guidance on best practices and methodologies. Act as a backup for Project Managers when needed, ensuring continuity in project execution and stakeholder management. Facilitate knowledge sharing and capability building within the project management team.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

5+ years of experience in Project Management or within a Project Management organisation (PMO or equivalent), preferably with a PMP certification or similar. Industry and technology experience, with a background in an industrial or technological company. Understanding of finance and project cost control principles. High proficiency in IT tools, including MS Office. Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, JIRA, or similar. Knowledge of business processes, with a preference for experience in certifications (such as ISO9001) or participation in audit processes. High-level business English proficiency, as most of the work is conducted in English. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Multicultural sensitivity, with the ability to build relationships and lead multi-cultural teams. Strategic forward thinker with a positive mindset and proactive way of working. Problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude

 

In this role, some travel is required. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
