Responsibilities You will need to have knowledge of the makeup, modification, and operation of moderately complex hydromechanical/pneumatic fuel control subassemblies. You will diagnose, overhaul, repair, and test various components requiring knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical and mechanical principals. You will make qualitative evaluations of the internal components of some subassemblies, analyzing the causes of failures, and making the necessary repairs and adjustments to render the components, usable within required specifications. You will use hand tools, jigs, fixtures, special tools, test equipment, measuring devices, and cleaning equipment. You will select and effectively utilize the proper tooling, including measuring devices such as torque wrenches, feeler gauges, depth gauges, etc. You will read and interpret technical data, parts supply manuals, and schematic diagrams. You will remove and replace components requiring precise measurements to tolerances of less than one thousandth inch in some applications. You will troubleshoot to determine and isolate malfunctions in less complicated assemblies and components. You will diagnose operational failures to determine the extent of repairs and whether to rework or replace faulty parts, in less complex subassemblies, assemblies, component's and systems to estimate time required to complete repairs. Section 1109 of the National Defense Authorization Act Fiscal Year 2020 Public Law 116-92 amended Section 9905 of title 5, United States Code (U.S.C.) to streamline and simplify certain Department of Defense civilian Direct Hire Authorities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates directly to certain positions in the competitive service in the Department of Defense. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work.
