Ambulatory and Allied Care Services (AACS) Offsite Clinic Point of Care Testing (POCT) Program performs testing on patient specimens in a clinic setting outside of the medical center. The **The AACS POCT department** has an outstanding opportunity for a **part-time, 50%, day shift POINT OF CARE TESTING COORDIANTOR (MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST).** The person in this role will work in a collaborative relationship with Laboratory Medicine to assure the quality of the POCT Program in Harborview Offsite Clinics. The person in this role is a liaison and resource person between Laboratory Medicine Clinical Laboratory and AACS. Additionally, this role provides tools and resources to POC testing staff to meet regulatory compliance. **RESPONSIBILITIES:** Data Management + Manage electronic QC, result and corrective action data compiled in data management software. + Compile and distribute QC summary reports to offsite clinic/department managers and AACS Administration. + Maintains test menus for each test location. + Maintain Procedure Manual, annual review; coordinates AACS POCT Medical Review. + Draft new procedures in format required by CAP and in collaboration with Laboratory Medicine POCT Coordinator; compile and maintain binders. + With AACS Administration and Laboratory Medicine, review all policies and procedures yearly and make revisions as needed. + Distribute revisions, updates, and new procedures to all POCT Offsite Clinic locations. + Manage temperature monitoring for Offsite Clinics to ensure reagent storage conditions. + Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). + Order reagents/products and open tickets with UWIT.Coordinate, review and evaluate the POCT Quality Control/Quality Assurance Program + Review quality control data of all testing sites on a monthly basis, reviews monthly QA summaries, log sheets, or by direct download of data from the instruments. Conduct Site audits periodically at Offsite Clinic locations. + Draft and distribute summaries of quality control data to POCT managers and/or directors, including corrective action recommendations for failures to comply with regulatory standards. Monitor completion of corrective actions and assure compliance. + Perform QC on new lot #/shipments of testing reagents; notifies appropriate departments when lots are cleared for distribution to the offsite locations; follows up when lots are not acceptable for release to floors. + Coordinates and distributes Proficiency Testing surveys to all Offsite Clinic POCT locations for each MTS License. + Prepares PT evaluations and sends reports to AACS Medical leadership, clinic managers, and ambulatory care nursing leadership. + Provides tools to testing staff, and providers for corrective actions if scores are not acceptable.Communications/Customer Service + Represents the department professionally when interacting with all medical center staff. + Communicates and replies clearly, directly, and in a timely manner (orally and written). + Maintains neat, legible, organized documents. + Maintains an advanced and current level of expertise for all procedures.Education/Competency Program + Visit Offsite testing locations as needed for record review, problem solving sessions, and training when applicable. + Provide suggestions for designing a corrective action plan when needed. + In conjunction with the AACS Manager of Professional Practice and Onboarding, utilizes and adapts yearly competency education materials and written or practical competency exam. + Create and update skills checklists, educational PPT, and supportive documents. + Assist Manager of Professional Practice and Onboarding with initial and ongoing orientation training, annual competency validations, and various training sessions as applicable.Method Evaluation + Assist the POCT Leadership Committee (HMC-Product Evaluation Committee) in determining need for new methodology, including any connectivity needs. + Collaborates with Sites to assess the need for new tests; provides regulatory information/quotes. + Coordinate Clinical Laboratory evaluation, validation, and correlation of new methods or instruments. + Coordinates training with the rep/Manager of Professional Practice and Onboarding, or provides training when applicable.Troubleshooting + Provide assistance to staff with QC/QA problems, methods, or instruments. + Follow up with clinical engineering or manufacturer for ongoing problems.Compliance/Inspections + Maintains knowledge of current Federal and State regulations (i.e., TJC, DOH, and CLIA). + Helps prepare sites for inspection by regulatory agencies. + Updates Offsite Clinic Medical Test Site License (i.e., add or remove tests, etc.). + Reports compliance issues to the AACS POCT leadership for corrective action. + Helps Lead prepare and present QI projects to d regulations in compliance with institution standards. + Have and exercise knowledge of laboratory safety and proper precautions when dealing with bio-hazardous, radioactive, corrosive, explosive and/or flammable materials. + Recognize potential safety hazards and take corrective action to resolve hazards or notify appropriate personnel. + Participate in interdepartmental efforts to facilitate a safe environment for all staff and patients. + Keep abreast of safety procedures including fire plan, disaster drills, evacuation routes, etc. + Report knowledge of hazards to the Manager or Lead. + Follows safety/biohazards procedures and practices "Universal Precautions" at all times.Policies and Procedures + Follows established policies, procedures and techniques at all times. + Integrates new or revised procedures into the workplace. + Perform other duties as required at all Offsite POC locations.Quality Assessment and Improvement + Participate in and support quality assessment and improvement activities. + Present QA projects to Management, Administration, and AACS Medical leadership, as applicable.Age Specific Competencies + Maintain knowledge of age and gender specific developmental stage differences and requirements to meet the needs of patients and their families. + Maintain knowledge of age and gender specific reference ranges as applicable. **REQUIREMENTS:** Accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist OR equivalent education/ experience,ANDCurrent Medical Laboratory Science certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent certifying organization; or certification with specialty organization appropriate to microbiologyANDTwo years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist 1 or equivalent experience.
