There is a Special Entrance Rate of $21.27 for this title. Rate may be adjusted based on applicants’ qualifications. There is also an additional $2 Premium Pay, $2.50 Shift Differential Pay and $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only. Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: + Protect life and property, conduct proactive patrols, auto crash/theft, injury investigations, respond to calls for service, direct traffic, and enforce applicable laws and adhere to established policies. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of law enforcement experience. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required. An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted. Job Concepts FUNCTION OF WORK: To provide a full range of police services with a primary emphasis on enforcement of laws, investigations of crimes and accidents, and providing emergency services and crime prevention programs; may serve as assistant shift supervisor by overseeing the full range of police services on an assigned shift.
