Policy Program Specialist, Global Security Policy

The Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) Policy Program Specialist is an experienced individual contributor role that works with limited guidance. The Policy Program Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining policy documents that provide the security framework for Amazon’s Worldwide Operations sites across the globe. The Policy Program Specialist supports the Global Security Policy (GSP) team with program-level management of the policy lifecycle, as well as providing advanced technical writing skills to document requirements that ensure our people, information, and assets are secure. They will support internal customers as a resource with policy knowledge in the development of the actions needed to resolve identified issues and mitigate risks. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Global Policy & Compliance.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage the policy lifecycle, to include resource planning/scheduling, standard work development, and continuous improvement efforts
- Produce high quality documents for publication that are accurate, complete, and usable
- Ensure documentation updates are aligned with review cadences and business needs
- Effectively manage communication with policy stakeholders using standardized processes to drive engagement and awareness
- Identify and implement improvements to established procedures/processes related to policy development, approval and publication
- Manage customer requests for clarifications, exceptions, and changes to policy documents
- Support internal customers as a recognized expert on policy requirements, applicability and compliance
- Lead cross-team projects related to the policy development mechanism, to include management of inputs, outputs, feedback, and iterations
A day in the life
The Policy Specialist will be assigned various policy documents to draft and/or update. They will consult with experts and stakeholders to establish global baseline requirements, seek alignment and/or formal approval from GSO leaders, and manage the publication process. They will also act as an initial focal point for policy clarification questions and exception requests from field Loss Prevention teams, and will escalate issues to management as necessary.

The Global Security Policy (GSP) team, as part of the Global Policy & Compliance (GPC) organization, is responsible for the documentation of physical security controls that protect our people, information, assets, operations, and brand across Amazon’s Worldwide Operations sites, as well as affiliate and retail businesses, within the scope of Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS). We create these requirements based on risk assessments, normative references, and subject-matter expert (SME) input. We formalize the resulting requirements and processes through Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines. The GSP team partners with regional Security & Loss Prevention teams, as well as other functional stakeholders to accomplish these objectives.
