Policy Wordings Technician

We are recruiting for a Policy Wordings Technician to join our existing team of experienced drafters. The successful candidate would be responsible for working closely with underwriters to develop new wordings, maintain existing wordings and clause libraries, advise on market, regulatory and legal changes related to cover, and provide support and advice in the review of competitor and broker wordings. 

This role would ideally suit a candidate from an underwriting, legal or claims background. This could involve experience of reviewing legal contracts or providing advice on insurance wordings in a claims environment, or an underwriter with a flair for developing manuscript wordings. 

We are looking for an individual with experience of either property and/or casualty covers. 

We are open to discuss flexible working options and there is flexibility for the successful candidate to work from a Chubb office of choice in the UKI region - London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow or Dublin.

Responsibilities:

Work with underwriters and Product Development to develop new wordings for new target markets.  Lead and provide advice on the development of bespoke wordings and clauses for large or complex risks.  Work with Chubb Overseas General to localise guidance in respect of wordings and endorsements. Provide review and advice on prospective scheme and broker policy forms and schemes. Keep abreast of emerging trends including regulatory, legal and market developments and provide advice to underwriters where there is a potential impact on Chubb wordings. To develop and deliver advice to underwriters on wording related issues and emerging market, regulatory or legal trends where required.  To ensure the central wording repository is accurately maintained and keep records and reports relating to wording matters, including diary of outstanding issues. Work with other drafting resources to ensure the sharing of technical knowledge and consistency of approach to wordings. Work with other drafters to provide visibility of workloads and the timely delivery of service to underwriters on wording matters. Ensure wordings are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, including conduct risk. Involvement in ad hoc information requests / projects related to the relevant bank of wordings. To work within the framework of Chubb ethical and service standards. Detail orientated with an ability to identify issues within complex documentation.Methodical and can work through stages of wording development in coherent way.Experience of legal contract or insurance policy drafting. Proven ability to time manage projects and work independently. Record of successful project implementation and execution.Ability to manage stakeholders.Knowledge of insurance business, markets, and general insurance related terminology.Good communication skills.; uses clear language and is precise and succinct in communication with stakeholders. Ability to explain complex topics in an approachable way for both internal and external audiences.
