**Description**
The University of Rochester’s Department of Political Science invites applications from candidates for a full-time, instructional-track position that is open with regard to rank, starting July 1, 2025. The initial appointment is for one year with subsequent reappointment on a four-year cycle, conditional on a successful first year. The position involves a mix of teaching and administrative responsibilities, which will contribute broadly to undergraduate training in political science, and will support our major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE).
We seek candidates who can contribute to teaching in a selection of the following areas: political philosophy, constitutional law, environmental policy, public economics, and race and ethnic politics. Qualified candidates must be able to teach two required courses for the PPE major: a 4-credit seminar course (Politics, Philosophy, and Economics: How to Change the World), and a 2-credit student-paper presentation seminar. Teaching responsibilities will be four 4-credit courses and the one 2-credit course, for a total of 4.5 courses, each academic year.
Administrative duties consist of being part of our advising team (including major declarations and degree audits for majors run by the department), with special responsibility for the PPE major. The administrative duties will be the equivalent of 1.5 courses over the academic year.
The position is open to candidates from diverse intellectual backgrounds, including economics, law, philosophy, political science, and public policy.
