What you can expect:
In the Package Engineering intern position, you will contribute to tasks focused on specific project initiatives, such as package development and testing support, results evaluation, conducting plant trials, developing pallet patterns and coordinating with manufacturing plants and suppliers.
Utilize critical thinking skills to plan and coordinate individual activities that contribute to project results:
Hands-on development activities at our Technical Center or in our manufacturing plantsCoordinate and perform independent and team experiments in laboratory and plant settingsPresentation of project results and findings to leadership upon completion of internshipPotential for significant travel to manufacturing plants and fill locations could be required (50-70%) ResponsibilitiesGoal of Program:
Fundamental technical understanding of packaging materials, package manufacturing processes with exposure to industry and market driversExpand critical problem solving and decision make skills through development and execution of qualification plansImprove communication skills with interaction of cross-functional teams and leadership alignmentBetter understanding of engineering organizationExample Projects:
Development & qualification of new packages for blue-chip customers (Nestle, Abbott, Exxon Mobil, Church & Dwight, and others)Assessment secondary packaging performance for our productsResearch & Benchmarking studies to identify “white space” for future packaging development opportunities QualificationsWhat we’re looking for:
Level: Engineering or Technology program with a minimum of (1) year of academic experienceCapable of working in both individual and team settingsSeeking highly energetic, creative, and motivated individualsExcellent communication and organizational skillsPreferred skills:
Software: Excel, CAD, FEA, Minitab
Comfortable problem solving electrical and mechanical systems
Comfortable working in a manufacturing plant
Understanding of ANSI standards
Understanding of SPC
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Be able to travel within US
