Job Description

Provides polysomnographic testing to patients from newborn to 21 years of age consistent with accepted standards. Effectively and efficiently functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team that assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care services. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

1 year of experience in polysomnography or a combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in pediatrics

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification Summary

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employmentMust have: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS),or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) certification within 24 months of employmentGrandfathered clause: Continuous employment as a Polysomnographer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta since 8/2007 in lieu of certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher within 30 days of employmentStrong organizational capabilities and communication skillsEnthusiasm and willingness to work with others

Job Responsibilities

Independently performs diagnostic polysomnographic testing and scoring in accordance with accepted national standards to patients from newborn to 21 years of age, integrating emotional, psychosocial, educational, and growth and development needs of the patient and family.Monitors and appropriately addresses the comprehension, understanding, and compliance of the patient and family with regard to treatment and testing.Identifies and corrects issues with testing technical quality.
