Pool Monitor (Seasonal, Part-time)

POOL MONITOR 

Job Purpose

 

We are looking for mature, responsible, monitors to check in residents and their guests at our community swimming pool. Our monitors ensure community standards and practices are followed, helping to maintain a safe and positive pool experience for all patrons.  Responsibilities include enforcing pool rules, and keeping the deck and facility clean. The Pool Monitor plays a crucial role in creating a safe, enjoyable, and well-maintained pool environment for all patrons.


This is seasonal employment beginning in May and ending in September. Hours will be scheduled within daily pool hours of 10:00a - 6:00p, Monday – Saturday. Must be 18 years old or older. 


We encourage pool monitors to return season after season. This is a great summer job!

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

•    Supervision and Safety: Monitoring swimmers for any issues or hazards, and intervening as needed to ensure a safe environment. 

•    Enforcement of Rules: Ensuring that all patrons follow pool rules and regulations, and addressing any violations. 

•    Customer Service: Greeting guests, answering questions, and providing assistance to ensure a positive experience. 

•    Maintenance and Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and organized pool area, including restrooms, and ensuring the pool equipment is functioning properly. 

•    Gate Admittance and Access Control: Checking in guests and ensuring proper access to the pool area. 

•    Communication: Communicating effectively with pool patrons, staff, and management. 


•    Other Duties: Assisting with pool maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, opening, and closing the pool area, as needed.


Required Skills and Qualifications

 

•    Swimming: Basic swimming capabilities

•    Protocols: Experience in working with emergency protocols

•    Customer Service: Friendly and approachable demeanor, ability to handle guest inquiries and concerns. 

•    Communication: Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal. 

•    Observation and Attention to Detail: Being observant of swimmers and the pool area, noticing potential problems or hazards. 

•    Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations and take appropriate action to resolve issues. 

•    Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with other staff members and lifeguards. 

•    Dependability: Being reliable and punctual. 


Preferred Qualifications


•    Certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid

•    Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding
