Population Health Data Analyst

Job Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for implementation and maintenance and coordinating the activities of data management software data aggregation, analysis and reporting process. Responsibilities include coordinating data submission in a timely fashion, ensuring the integrity of the data in the system, developing projects, reports and presentations, generating reports, providing training to the Staff to utilize the system, and fully supporting the Staff in their use of the system. Data Analyst extensively utilizes database technologies to acquire and transform institutions’ data into consistent data formats to power dashboards and reports. The Data Analyst position provides work process-specific computer training to employees of other departments in order to promote process improvement and efficiency.

 

Responsibilities

Data Analysis:
o Design and maintain databases for all of WVHN data including payors, providers, practices as well as executive reports
o Clean and review data for accuracy as it is retrieved from several sources including CMS, private payors and Medicaid
o Create dashboards to accurately reflect and explain data for executives as well as several committees, including Post Acute Care committee
o Create reports and slides for presentations to Quality Committee and the Board of Managers of the WVHN
o Provide reports upon request for ad hoc requests from inside the WVHN as well as from our partners and customers
o Educate employees of the WVHN about the use of data reports to help them track progress of practices as well as themselves in an effort to promote continuous quality improvement
o Analyze and present data to management of the WVHN to help them make informed decisions regarding performance and partnerships

Business Analysis:
o Review and present clean data and reports to assist the WVHN in making informed decisions about the direction of the company
o Discover new solutions to challenges and obstacles such as having multiple data sources
o Educate and delegate responsibilities such as data retrieval
o Design solutions for practices and the WVHN to be able to focus on actionable goals and track progress
o Act as the touch point for data sources by coordinating transfer of data between payors, practices and vendors such as Milliman, Cerner, ABHWV, THP, Unicare, as well as CMS nstructions.

Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact)

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Competency Statement

Education 

• Bachelor's Degree (Required)

 Education: Bachelor Degree in business, accounting, finance or Related Field. Coursework in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.

 Experience: Minimum of 5 years Related Field information technology or clinical technical support experience; Minimum of three (3) years appropriate healthcare informatics; 1+ year experience: Project management, Client management, Team leadership

• Formalized Training (Required) . Experience: Minimum of 5 years Related Field information technology or clinical technical support experience Preferred: 3 of 5 total years required in appropriate healthcare informatics 1+ year experience: Project management, Client management, Team leadership. Coursework in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics or possess experience in: • Data analysis • Use of analytic tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Access, SAS) • IT systems, database design, or data structures
