Job Summary
Responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of Databases/SAN/Systems within the Vandalia Health Network (VHN.) Ensures the uptime, performance, resources, and security of the Databases/SAN/Systems, meet the needs of the organization. Utilizes various reporting tools and uses critical thinking skills for analysis that lead to better health, better care, and better value for our patients.
Responsibilities
Usually works with intermediate supervision, conferring with manager/supervisor on unusual matters. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Has appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision. Under limited supervision, performs technical work that is varied and that is difficult in character involving responsibility, including, but not limited to, the following: Write operational automation scripts/programs to minimize manual process. Develop and maintain documentation for staff members and operators to use for the management of assigned application(s). Troubleshoot daily Database/SAN/System application problems and provide resolutions with minimal support with regards to tables, interfaces, etc. Work with serious database issues such as corruption and data integrity. Maintain and write programs or interfaces to support changes/enhancements to Database/SAN/System. Demonstrate an understanding of the automation capabilities of a given Database/SAN/System structure. Demonstrates understanding of current and future customer workflow requirements that relate to ongoing support and new implementations.
Examples of work, in addition to database administration and maintenance:
1. Performs data analysis of patient populations managed by the Population Health Team.
2. Using data analysis, identifies opportunities that will improve the health of our patients, improve the care that our patients receive, and/or lower the cost of care for our patients.
3. Provides analytical insights from data to drive strategic decisions.
4. Manages expectations and engages management to review/resolve any potential changes to workflows, expected deliverables, etc.
5. Participates in training and professional development sessions.
6. Assists with the preparation of progress reports for Executive Leadership to outline VHN performance, key issues and barriers that impact progress of initiatives and improvement.
7. Offers assistance and support to co-workers.
8. Stays informed of current and emerging healthcare industry trends.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred in Health Information Technology or related discipline.
Preferred - Master’s Degree – Management Information Systems/Database Administration
Experience: 3 years of experience supporting healthcare-related software applications including data quality and report creation
