The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Foreman – Mobile Equipment Maintenance (xxx)                                                             

About the role

The Foreman plays a critical role in optimizing production processes, ensuring equipment reliability, and promoting a culture of safety and quality. Reporting to the Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for directing skilled trades people and semi-skilled workers and contractors whose duties include installation, repair, and general maintenance of the Mobile Equipment to meet operational targets for the Mobile Maintenance Department. 

Key Responsibilities: 

In consultation with supervisors and Superintendents, coordinate the mobile maintenance tasks, and establish priorities for the mobile maintenance team. Confirm that proper maintenance schedules are designed and implemented to ensure proper maintenance of company assets.  Design and implement meaningful preventive maintenance programs including scheduling equipment down-time to perform required servicing and extend life of the equipment. Maintain department records e.g. work orders, accident reports, project files, technical records, breakdown analysis etc. To recognize, plan and execute tasks using available manpower, tools, and material in the most effective and efficient manner.  Provide direction, on the job training and technical assistance for subordinates as required and develop them to act in higher positions and take on more responsibilities.  Participate in the preparation of the annual Mobile Equipment Maintenance Department budget and continually manage all costs. Study work production schedules and estimate Man hours. Ensure training requirements are met. Maintain work standards in accordance with government regulation sand company policies. Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods, equipment performance and quality of repair work carried out by trades’ personals. Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:

Recognized Certificate of Competency in Mobile Maintenance discipline preferably within mining industry Minimum 10 years’ experience as supervisor or Foreman in a mining industry preferably in mining.  Comprehensive knowledge of industry safe work standards and quality control is essential. Workplace Mentor Level 3 Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Ability to identify defects and develop repair scopes or work, including parts requirements, during preventative maintenance activities. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and service manuals. Capacity planning in line with weekly planning schedules. Ability to lead tradesman and service man in all areas of mechanical maintenance. Any SAP or CMMS business process experience will be highly regarded. Pro-active understanding and attitude towards environment and safety standards Prior industry recognized safety training highly desirable. Current PNG Class 1 or 6 Drivers license with ability to acquire a Site LV Driving essential.

Mobilization Requirement 

This is a PNG National staff position, a Porgera site-based role on a Fly in Fly Out (FIFO) arrangement with 21 days on Site and 14 days off Site roster. The successful candidate must be able willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
