The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for Environmental Superintendent 

 

 

About the role

 

New Porgera Limited is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental Superintendent. In this role, which is for a fixed term of six (6) months. You will be responsible for the tactical implementation and management of environmental systems to ensure best practice environmental management and compliance with environmental obligations.  You will deliver the Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) in consultation with the NPL management team and manage the implementation of an ISO14001 compliant Environmental Management System (EMS). Your role will involve managing assurance processes (internal audits, inspections, investigations) rehabilitation, scientific monitoring, and control of environmental impacts. Additionally, you will ensure all statutory and corporate environmental reporting is delivered to agreed standards. 

 

Qualifications:

Relevant degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience in environmental management within the mining industry. Strong knowledge of ISO14001 standards, environmental legislation, and other assurance processes such as the Responsible Gold Mining Principles and ICMM guidelines. Strong computer skills including use of Power BI Valid driver's license.

 

 Key responsibilities

 

Deliver the Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) in consultation with the NPL management team. Manage the implementation of an ISO14001 compliant Environmental Management System (EMS) at Porgera. Manage land rehabilitation and scientific monitoring, interpretation, and control of environmental impacts. Obtain and maintain all necessary environmental licenses and ensure compliance. Ensure all statutory and corporate environmental reporting is delivered to agreed standards. Assist the Environment Manager with change management initiatives and other business improvement projects. Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the team. Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in Porgera's mining activities. Develop and maintain a team structure that enables teamwork and personal development. Coach and mentor direct reports and ensure active management of performance and development. Ensure training and development of national and local team members. Promote a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and compliance with the NPL Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Policy. 

 

Mobilization Requirement 

 

This is a PNG National staff position, a site-based role on a Fly in Fly Out (FIFO) arrangement with rotation of 21 days on Site and 14 days off Site. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
