The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for Tradesperson – Heavy Equipment Fitter – Shovels and Drills. 

 

About the role

We are seeking for a skilled and dedicated Tradespersons to join our dynamic Mobile Equipment Maintenance team. This role is critical to the efficient operation and maintenance of our Heavy Equipment Facility (HEF) shovel pad. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring our heavy machinery and equipment are in optimal condition, contributing to the overall productivity and safety of our operations.

In this role, you will;

Carry out tasks as directed by the Supervisor for the general operation of the Mobile Equipment Maintenance section. Carry out preventative maintenance tasks and component replacements in alignment with maintenance strategies safely, to the required standard and in the most efficient manner possible. Diagnoses and repairs breakdowns as required safely, to the required standard and in the most efficient manner possible. Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment, specifically focusing on shovels and related machinery. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on the shovel pad. Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. Must understand and contribute to the maintenance performance measures assigned to their area, (KPI’s) Actively participate in the development of on the job training plans for apprentices and T/A’s. Assist supervisors with the preparation and planning of shutdowns. Promote high standard with environmental practices covering all areas from storage of oil, disposal of rubbish to handling wastewater. Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures

 

About you 

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences 

Recognized Trade Certificate in Heavy Equipment Fitting. Minimum 5 years in mining industries with demonstrable experience and knowledge in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, particularly shovels. Ability to demonstrate clear understanding of preventative maintenance in alignment with industry best practice. Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Ability to identify defects and develop repair scopes or work, including parts requirements, during preventative maintenance activities. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and service manuals. Prepared to work to flexible company roster and to vary working hours as required to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives. Sound communication, technical, planning and time management skills. Prior industry recognized safety training highly desirable. Current PNG Class 1 or 6 Drivers license with ability to acquire a Site LV Driving Permit.
