S:US is seeking a Porter for their mens's shelter in Brooklyn.
This position is located at 599 Ralph Avenue Brooklyn NY 11233
The Porter will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness ande minor repairs in a residential shelter.
Maintain cleanliness of facility and facility perimeter. This includes but it not limited to, kitchen, offices, bathrooms, dorms, medical department and common areas.Accept deliveries and stock items as instructedRemoval of trash, snow and other debrisAssist in moving and storing program supplies, office furniture, office equipment, dorm furniture, consumer belongings, and other items in and around the facility when and where appropriate.Must wear SUS maintenance uniform and must maintain uniform so that it is clean and presentable at the start of each shift.Attend staff meetings, group supervision, and trainings as needed.A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required. Assist with apartment turn over following move outs to prepare apartments for new families (where applicable).Conduct minor facility repairsAssist Maintenance staff with special projectsEnsure compliance with all OSHA and FDNY regulationsComply with all SUS Employee Policies, Procedures, and Protocols, SUS Corporate Compliance Policies.A work schedule that includes weekend and evening hours will be requiredAbility to be available in emergency situations. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferredAt least two years of building maintenance experience in a large residential/institutional setting working with special needs population required.Must possess good interpersonal skills.NYS Driver’s License Preferred.
