Portfolio Analyst (Data & Finance)

Role Summary:

The IT Portfolio Analyst plays an important role in the execution of the IT Strategic Portfolio Management activities.

The main responsibility covers supporting the Compliance & Analytics of Governance & Insights throughout the IT SPM lifecycle, including but not limited to: Portfolio Health, Benefits Lifecycle, Financial Controls, Resource Capacity & Capability.

Previous experience as a Project Analyst or junior project manager in an IT Portfolio office/PMO, means you have a thorough understanding of: (1) how the business selects projects for investment, (2) manage resources across the portfolio, (3) the SDLC, (4) how projects utilize methodologies/processes and tools in day-to-day delivery and the criticality of quality, and (5) evaluate value thru benefits realization.

You understand the importance of being able to work under pressure, balance competing priorities and quickly adapt to changes, whilst ensuring deadlines are always met. You can work autonomously and be self-directed (after confirming priorities/expectations with your manager) in your daily tasks and will persevere to find resourceful and innovative ways to overcome obstacles.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

IT Demand Management: 

Monitor and review IT pipeline requests  Provide support to requestors to ensure requests are complete and ready for review  Prepare for Demand Management meetings including liaising with other IT Leaders to collate key inputs (requests, portfolio dashboard, resource capacity plans, budget information)  Support the Benefit Management framework by coordinating the lifecycle of the Business Case for IT Demands

Quality Assurance & Governance: 

Monitor programs and projects for adherence to IT Delivery Framework / Ways of Work, including but not limited to status reporting and governance reviews  Provide support to help Portfolio teams to prepare for governance/steering committee meetings and/or project governance reviews  Portfolio Governance Committee Meeting coordination, including management of governance calendars/logistics  Administration and maintenance of the IT Delivery Framework / Ways of Work information, templates, processes in Confluence  Participate in portfolio and program health checks and audits to ensure consistency of execution and best practices defined by the IT Delivery Framework 

Portfolio Lifecycle Support:

Liaise with the group to ensure global reporting deadlines are met by Portfolio/Program/Project teams  Support the Resource management process by maintaining resource planner and weekly status reporting, including support for vendor management for third party contracted resources  Support the Portfolio Management process by coordinating the key Portfolio activities, including but not limited to Strat/Annual Plan, Governance/Steering Committees, Business and Operating Reviews, Change Advisory Boards  Maintain the system of records for all IT Portfolio/Projects/Enhancements demands/requests throughout its lifecycle  Perform data analysis in support of providing insight into IT Portfolio performance, health and cycle times 

Education, Knowledge, Experience:

Education:

MS/BS degree in computer science, software development, or business OR a background in business, technology, product development and management

Tools Knowledge & Certifications:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office & Collaboration Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) Broadcom CA Clarity PPM, Atlassian Jira and Confluence (preferred)

Work Experience:

5 years of experience in an IT Projects management/administration/support role(s) Knowledge of IT portfolio, program, and project management concepts Agile and Product Development qualifications (eg Scrum, LEAN, Kanban, SAFe, etc) Experience in a large multinational corporation, Insurance industry experience preferred Experience working with stakeholders across different levels, countries, and cultures Experience in usage, maintenance, and administration of PPM Tools

Technical Competencies: 

Knowledge of Agile software development process (e.g., XP, Kanban, Scrum, etc.)  Knowledge and/or experience with Agile techniques (e.g., user stories, test-driven dev.)  Knowledge of insurance, finance or retail services value chain, particularly in aligned domain  Digital product management lifecycle experience; preferably in insurance  Knowledge of product management tools including Clarity, Confluence, Jira and Mural

Qualifications: 

This role would lend itself to an experienced IT Portfolio Analyst who has experience working in a tech environment managing multiple responsibilities including regular reporting and general administration.
