The Early Development Oncology (EDO) Team is responsible for the identification and validation of candidate molecular biomarkers used for the demonstration of pharmacodynamic effects and mechanism of action, as well as for response prediction and patient selection/stratification. The EDO Team supports the whole oncology portfolio and closely interacts with Discovery and Early Clinical Development.
Job mission
As a Portfolio Pathologist (m/f/d), you are part of the Clinical Histopathology team within EDO. In this role you will be contributing to the design and implementation of the tissue biomarker strategy across several Oncology projects. Therefore, you are an expert on tissue analysis and Digital Pathology approaches. You provide scientific guidance and generate key insights from tissue data to support drug development decision-making.
Your impact
As part of a cross-functional Digital Pathology team you are at the forefront of tissue biomarker research for Oncology
According to your expertise, you will work on the analysis of tumour tissue and its application to Drug Development
You drive key biomarker and pathology capabilities across the Discovery and Early Clinical Development Oncology pipeline (Phase 0, 1, 1b, 2)
At the project and portfolio level you have the responsibility for a portfolio of projects in the field of Immuno-oncology and Targeted therapies: tissue biomarker strategy design and implementation for the projects and portfolio, reverse translation strategy design and implementation to analyze biomarker data, generating insights relevant to the portfolio
You developed deep expertise through study analysis and thorough knowledge of literature
Finally, you also lead external academic partnerships as they relate to tissue biomarkers and/or digital pathology
Your profile
You are an experienced MD anatomic pathologist with 5+ years of postgraduate experience (please note: the MD is a must-have requirement. We can’t offer this position to applicants (m/w/d) with an alternative education such as veterinary medicine)
You bring a minimum of 5 years of previous R&D experience
Of course, we can trust in your experience in tissue biomarkers such as discovering/developing insights from the analysis of tumours and tissues into testable clinical hypotheses
You are experienced in supervising, exploring, developing and analyzing tissue analysis techniques such as immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence, image analysis and spatial-omics approaches.
You bring experience and interest in developing cutting-edge digital pathology approaches.
Furthermore, you have experience in leading scientific teams and direct reports
