The position is accountable for post-award functions, both operational and financial. Will provide advanced-level support for the financial activities of a large academic department. The position requires the application of a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in research accounting, post-award administration, and budgeting. The individual in this position works with department leadership in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and methods to handle unusual or complex situations. This position will be responsible for financial oversight and execution of post-award activities in the research office of an academic and clinical department with over 160M in total grant funding. The incumbent will provide appropriate training of project staff in the management of research funds/accounting. The incumbent will serve as a primary contact for many post-award activities and will direct and oversee the posting and reconcile expenditures as well as monthly expenditure reports on the research accounting activity. Will forecast budget scenarios, clear overdrafts, and participate in other special projects as requested. Will work independently with department investigators and staff to interpret funding guidelines, reports, rules, and regulations. Will participate in the development of departmental budget and be responsible for monitoring and addressing variances. Prior University experience in the management of research funds is required.
