Position Summary/Description:
Postdoctoral Trainee in the Tamayo lab working on mechanisms of pathogenesis of the bacterium Clostridioides difficile. This work involves genetic manipulation of putative virulence genes for analysis of function and regulation, biochemical analysis of macromolecular interactions (e.g., DNA -protein and RNA -protein interactions), and a variety of methods to assess bacterial phenotypes (motility, biofilm formation, other).
Education and Experience:
Microbiology experience: culturing bacteria, sterile technique, phenotype assays
Molecular biology experience: nucleic acid synthesis/purification, PCR /qPCR, gene cloning, in vitro assays
Biochemistry: gene expression, purification of recombinant proteins
Experience in training others in basic lab skills
