The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is currently seeking a full time Post Doctoral Associate to work in Miami, FL. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

Department Specific Functions
POSITION SUMMARY:
Individual will be responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of a research project. Must be capable of exercising independent judgment. Individual will contribute to basic and applied research activities, participate in the publication of significant results, and advance their expertise through education, training and/or research experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule and perform experiments in a research laboratory, including the planning and conducting of projects related to cell culture and molecular biology.
Solve problems in scientific and technical execution, interpret experimental data and maintain accurate records.
May need to develop, adapt and implement new lab procedures. Provide technical assistance to lab members.
Perform molecular biology procedures including PCR, and western blotting, DNA/RNA extraction, gene cloning, transfection, flow cytometric analysis, immunofluorescence and microscopy.
Assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, Excel and other graphics software as needed.
Order supplies and maintain accounting files for laboratory.
Search literature for references to technical problems and keep informed by reading technical journals and publications.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
PhD degree in Science, Biology, Life Science or other related field.
Extensive knowledge of cell culture/sterile technique and experience with molecular biology preferred.
Excellent skills in English (both verbal and written) required.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively with other employees are essential.
Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks, plan proactively, and accomplish goals using well-defined instructions and procedures.
