Recruitment/Posting Title Post-Doctoral Associate Department FASC - Chemistry Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary A Postdoctoral associate position is available in the LFTDI, the laboratory of Dr. Catherine M. Grgicak in the Department of Chemistry, Rutgers University–Camden.This one- year position will support the work of Dr. Grgicak’s laboratory, working to innovate methods to simplify the interpretation of nucleic acid signal obtained from complex environments. Specifically, we develop detection, recognition, recovery and DNA interpretation devices to better understand what occurred during a crime. We seek a self-motivated, career-oriented postdoc to develop novel NGS assays for single-cell replicate analysis.The expertise requires a thorough knowledge of molecular biology and biochemistry (DNA extraction, amplification, electrophoresis and NGS), image analysis experience, and data analytics or data science. Training opportunities for analyzing single-cell probabilistic genotyping results are available.Collaborative opportunities outside of the Laboratory are encouraged and are available with science faculty affiliated with the Center of Computational & Integrative Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and Mathematics.To learn more about LFTDI (Laboratory for Forensic Technology Development and Integration) visit : https://lftdi.camden.rutgers.edu/Responsibilities:The associate shall:1. Under the auspices of the principal investigator and industry partners, design and execute laboratory experiments that aid in the development of novel forensic single-cell solutions2. Pursue and be successful in acquiring internal and external funding, and publish in peer-reviewed journals3. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in independent projects related to forensic science4.
