Position Summary:
We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our dynamic RD team. The candidate will collaborate within a multidisciplinary group to investigate the impact of various chemical compounds on polymerization kinetics and performance of Class II and Class III medical devices. Project work will include synthesis of monomers and polymers, raw material analysis, formulations, device fabrication and analytical characterization of the test articles. Expertise in polymerization kinetics, polymer mechanics, synthetic organic chemistry, and photochemistry are required. Scale up from bench top/glove box feasibility to pilot line runs with acceptable repeatability and reproducibility targets is anticipated.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop novel bulk and surface polymerization chemistries for ophthalmic medical device applications, contributing to intellectual property and advancing new patient benefits.Conduct independent and collaborative research of a highly complex nature where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variable factors.Utilize broad based scientific literature to develop evidence-based strategies capable of achieving desired molecular structure and performance.Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team composed of organic chemists, analytical chemists, polymer scientists, biochemists, material scientists, chemical engineers, and medical professionals. A PhD in organic chemistry, polymer science, material science, or chemical engineering with an emphasis on synthesis, photochemistry, polymers, or polymer physics is required.Ability to independently ideate and execute proof-of-concept experiments for novel compounds. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.Effective communicator with strong oral and written skills, capable of collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.Preferred:
