If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. The **Banner University Medicine** Neurosurgery Department is on the forefront of clinical care and research efforts. The department offers a one year fellowship to a licensed medical school graduate who has completed their intern year. The pre-resident fellow would provide medical management support for inpatients, and would also spend time with neurosurgery attendings and residents in the operating room. This is an excellent opportunity for a medical school graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in neurosurgery. Candidates for the postdoctoral fellowship must be a licensed medical school graduate who has completed their intern year. Location: **Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona** Schedule: **7a-6p M-F** **Some weekends** Banner University Medical Group is our nonprofit faculty practice plan associated with the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine in Phoenix and Tucson. Our 800-plus clinicians provide primary and specialty care to patients at highly ranked Banner - University Medical Centers and dozens of clinics while providing mentorship to more than 700 residents and fellows. POSITION SUMMARY This position assists in conducting innovative, high-quality research and/or clinical trials, including the planning, design, and execution of the research. Additionally, the position may provide clinical services under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. This is is a time-limited, one year post-doctoral educational/training fellowship. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Under the supervision of the Primary Investigator, may lead portions of research projects, including planning, designing, conducting, analyzing and interpreting innovative research. 2. May participate in grant writing. 3. Collects, organizes and records data for manuscript preparation. Participates in the preparation of timely reports on the research findings in the form of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations. 4. May engage in new or existing clinical research projects under the mentorship of research faculty. 5. Works collaboratively with other researchers across the system. Customers are both internal and external, including but not limited to, facility personnel and leadership, department heads, and other allied health personnel. External communications include presentations to research and health care professionals, as well as lay people of varying educational and professional backgrounds. The position requires strong initiative, excellent networking capabilities and creative problem-solving skills. 6. Under the direct supervision of a licensed physician, may provide high quality medical care in the clinical setting, demonstrating sound knowledge of medical specialty. Ensures that accurate, essential information is captured for patient history and chart review. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an approved school of medicine with licensure in state where he/she practices (MD or DO). Requires commitment to healthcare and concern for people in distress, critical listening skills and ability to communicate clearly, desire to work with all types of people and work as a team member and excellent interpersonal skills. Must possess knowledge of laboratory techniques, research methods, and data collection. Requires strong communication, organization, and data analysis and evaluation skills. Must be able to maintain good rapport with other departmental personnel. Employees working at BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working for Banner Home Care/Hospice must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. This is a requirement of the Whole Family Counseling Program held at this specific facility.
