Position Summary:
The Informatics Department at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in research and development related to areas that combine computing, technology, and software development with applications in the learning domain. The candidate must have a strong computing background.
Essential Functions:
You will be part of a diverse, supportive and dynamic team and may have to learn new skills needed for ongoing and emerging projects. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage research projects while working with faculty and students.
- Develop new software, and/or integrate existing software, and/or support existing projects.
- Interact with subject matter experts from different domains.
- Design and run user studies (qualitative and quantitative).
- Write research papers and present at scholarly venues.
- Write and/or contribute to the writing of proposals, and project reports.
- Mentor undergraduate students in research.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering (alternatively, evidence that all requirements for a PhD have been fulfilled and that the applicant is pending graduation).
- Strong publishing record in computing and/or areas related to internet and web applications.
- Proficient with software technologies that underlie web-oriented, software architectures and applications.
- Experience with the client-side front-end interface and functionality for applications in a three-tier software/hardware architecture environment.
- Experience in developing server-side functionality (PHP, database, and SQL) for three-tier applications.
- Be able to apply coding and software solutions to enhance the client-side interface for three-tier applications.
- Be able to conduct research in such topics and communicate results in oral and written form.
- Strong verbal and writing skills.
- Experience in multidisciplinary scientific collaborations.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
