The Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (George Uhl MD PhD PI) is *recruiting for highly qualified postdoctoral researchers*. Researchers will aid work that is *developing new small molecules toward use in humans*. They will aid understanding of the novel targets that have been identified in human genome wide association and confirmatory mouse model experiments. Major current foci: inhibitors and substrate-selective positive allosteric modulators of the receptor type protein tyrosine phosphatase, PTPRD, as novel therapeutics for addictions and Alzheimer’s disease neurofibrillary pathology, respectively. (see Uhl et al, PNAS 2018 for lead compound PTPRD phosphatase inhibitor). We seek highly motivated scientists with PhD and/or MD in an appropriate field. Experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular genetics, mouse behavioral assays as well as willingness to learn associated areas are positives.
