The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Postdoc Scholar to work at our UHealth Medical Campus.

CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Post Doctoral Scholar takes initiative and works independently in developing new research ideas and troubleshooting new assays. Further, the incumbent facilitates the training of students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS  

Assists in planning and designing research experiments, establishes priorities, and recommends schedules. 

Presents research findings at local and national scientific conferences. 

Writes technical publications and reports. 

Designs and writes programs to perform analysis and produces written reports on results. 

Collects pilot data to help support new and competing renewal applications. 

Supervises undergraduate and graduate research students and performs literature reviews. 

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. 

Department Specific Functions 

The Post Doctoral Scholar will be part of an NIH-funded training program designed to provide rigorous research training in Alzheimer’s Disease and AD-related disorders (AD/ADRD).  

 

The scholar is expected to conduct a mentored AD/ADRD-related research project designed to be completed well within the two years of program participation. 

 

With guidance from mentors, the scholar is expected to create an Individual development plan, develop as well as participate in coursework and seminars, give presentations, and participate in program-related activities aiming to develop skills for interdisciplinary work and the ability to design and conduct independent research. 

 

The Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen national or must be lawfully admitted for permanent residence. 

 

Applicants must include the following when applying to this position: 

A letter from mentor/Faculty who has first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s potential and interest in research. 

NIH Biosketch. 

Personal statement of interest in engaging in AD/ADRD research. 

Relevant research idea or proposal. 

 

 

Department Specific Qualifications  

 

Education: 

MD, DMD, DVM, PharmD, or Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in health-related sciences preferred. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: 

Strong interest in developing a career in AD/ADRD research 

Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. 

Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. 

Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
