The Wuchty lab is interested in hiring a Postdoctoral Associate in the development and application of AI/ML methods in the field of biomedical data analysis in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Miami (Miami, FL).

We invite talented and highly motivated applicants to join a collaborative lab at the University of Miami. This position is ideal for a candidate with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field, with a keen interest in applying AI/ML expertise in the biomedical field. The research will advance research on the application of modern Artificial Intelligence methods on biomedical data. In particular, the postdoctoral associate is expected to implement and apply graph/network-based machine learning/AI approaches on the problems of drug repurposing and detection of regulatory biomedical networks.

Applicants should have strong research experience and publication record with a deep interest in AI/ML (preferred). This is a 2-year contract opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the intersection of technology and medicine.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Works and collaborates on studies of biomedical research that revolves around the implementation and application of AI methods. Ensures the design, development, implementation and application of such methods of scientific research and/or development in collaboration with a research team.  Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions and products.  Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.  Contributes to scientific literature and conferences, when appropriate. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

Doctoral degree in Computer Science or equivalent in their specialty.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with AI frameworks like PyTorch, Tensorflow and/or Keras, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written. Must be detail oriented.
