Wear Referrals is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital in the North East of England, close to the historic university city of Durham, the thriving city of Newcastle and set between the north east coast and the Pennines. We have services in neurology , orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology, as well as an out-of- hours emergency service and in-house physiotherapy and hydrotherapy teams. Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious well-designed wards with many walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy and a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system. In addition to a dedicated ultrasound room, and CT/MRI control room we have a separate radiology reading room. We encourage an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. We have an active internship programme and are expanding our residency programmes. Our extensive clinical caseload will provide an interesting variety of cases and clinical research is actively encouraged and supported.
