Postdoctoral Associate **Required Qualifications:** (as evidenced by an attached resume) ● Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Plant Biology or a closely related field. ● Demonstrated experience in the standard techniques of molecular biology. ● A record of publication in peer-reviewed journals. ● Attention to detail and data-driven decision making. ● Research experience with plants. ● Experiment design and statistical analysis skills. **Preferred Qualifications:** ● Experience with plant lipid analysis. ● Prior experience with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and thin layer chromatography. ● Prior experience with the model plant Arabidopsis. ● Advanced knowledge of plant lipid metabolism. **Position Description:** The research focuses on elucidating the regulatory mechanisms that control lipid metabolism and storage, using a combination of biochemical, genetic, cell biological, and physiological approaches. The project will involve characterizing novel lipid mutants and investigating protein components involved in the regulation of fatty acid storage and lipid homeostasis in Arabidopsis. The research will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Changcheng Xu (https://www.bnl.gov/staff/cxu) , a scientist in the Biology Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/biochem/) at Stony Brook University. The position will be based in Dr. Xu’s laboratory at BNL, which focuses on developing a fundamental understanding of the biochemical processes that underlie the conversion of photosynthetically fixed carbon into key storage compounds. **Duties and Responsibilities:** ● Design and carry out experiments relevant to the research project. ● Analyze experimental data and write manuscripts. ● Present research results in domestic /international conferences ● Other duties as assigned. **Special Notes:** The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation.
