Postdoctoral Associate Position in Experimental Biophysics and Soft Matter Physics at NYU Center for Soft Matter Research
The Zidovska Lab at the Center for Soft Matter Research in Physics Dept. at New York University (https://physics.nyu.edu/zidovskalab/index.html) invites applications for a full- time postdoctoral associate position. The Zidovska Lab is a cell biophysics lab focusing on the physics of the genome and the cell nucleus. We use experimental, analytical and computational approaches from biophysics, polymer physics and soft condensed matter physics to reveal the physical principles governing behavior of the genome in live cells. Examples of our experimental tools include high-resolution optical microscopy, small angle X-ray scattering and genome editing. We seek candidates who are interested in studying physical aspects of the genome such as non-equilibrium organization, dynamics, rheology, emergent phenomena, phase separations, hydrodynamics and functional liquid condensates in the cell nucleus. We expect appointed candidates to conduct research, design and perform experiments, analyze data, write academic publications and proposals, give presentations at conferences and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of a second and a third year subject to performance and continued funding. The following documents will be required when applying: CV, a brief summary of your dissertation, one sample publication and two reference letters to be submitted on Interfolio. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 - $65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer. Appointed candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics or a related field by the time of appointment, with no more than 5 years of post-PhD training. Experience in soft matter physics or biophysics experiments strongly recommended.
