The department has a small but growing group in basic research scientists whose work spans investigation of the neurobiology of pain, aging, neurodegeneration, neurogenesis, and fundamental aspects of behavioral neurobiology. The research PIs in the department have areas of focus that include mechanisms of pain, mechanisms of neurodegeneration, other areas of neurobiology, and Cancer biology.
