Position Description
The Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Artificial Intelligence. Working closely with Professor Christopher Stubbs and Learning Lab Director Marlon Kuzmick, the successful candidate will join a vibrant team committed to innovative teaching, learning, and research initiatives at the intersection of AI, pedagogy, and digital innovation.
The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to the Center’s expanding efforts to explore, evaluate, and implement artificial intelligence technologies in educational settings. Responsibilities include designing and leading interactive workshops for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and undergraduates, conducting research on AI-driven educational practices, creating publicly accessible educational content and tutorials, including for use in the Harvard classroom and TF/TA training, and delivering presentations to diverse academic audiences at Harvard and beyond.
This position is ideal for candidates passionate about applying AI to enhance learning experiences, exploring ethical and pedagogical implications of AI technologies, and actively engaging with Harvard’s academic community.
This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension. The preferred start date is July 1, 2025, though there is some flexibility.
Basic Qualifications
A Ph.D. in a field taught in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences.
Additional Qualifications
+ Experience with teaching, pedagogy, and/or educational technology.
+ Basic coding experience (Python or JavaScript) is advantageous but not required; candidates must demonstrate interest in developing basic skills coding with AI assistance.
+ Proven ability to lead workshops and effectively communicate complex ideas to academic and general audiences.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively.
+ Comfort and experience with public speaking, creating online educational materials, and tutorials.
