**Postdoctoral Fellow at Seattle Children’s Research Institute - Dr. Tanya Parish Lab** :
Tuberculosis remains the largest cause of death from a bacterial infection with >1 million deaths in 2023. The Parish Lab works on understanding the biology of the causative agent _Mycobacterium tuberculosis_ and discovering and developing novel drugs for tuberculosis.
We are seeking a qualified chemist at the post-doctoral level to conduct synthetic/medicinal chemistry in tuberculosis. The candidate will work on a research project to develop novel inhibitors of protein secretion and/or respiration in the global human pathogen _Mycobacterium tuberculosis_ . The candidate will be responsible for the design, synthesis, and characterization of small molecules for drug discovery, as well as analytical chemistry. This position would suit a newly qualified candidate and is available for up to 3 years.
Description of Responsibilities:
• Conduct a research and development project.
• Design and implement research plans .
• Troubleshoot and solve experimental and technical problems.
• Prepare and present papers, reports, and presentations of current research work.
• Write manuscripts and assist with grant preparation.
• Oversee quality control and data integrity.
**Specific duties include:**
• Design, synthesis, purification, and characterization of small molecules as candidate anti-tubercular agents.
• Use of analytical chemistry techniques/methods.
• Support of in vitro ADME studies.
**Required Education and Experience**
Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.
Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.

**Preferred**
- PhD in organic chemistry from an accredited university training program.
- Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.
- Up to 2 years (maximum) experience at the post-doctoral level.
**Compensation Range**
$65,478.00 - $98,571.00 per year
**Salary Information**
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
