What we want
The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for an Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Cell Biology and Genetics team. The Postdoctoral Research Associate position applies structural biology to uncover molecular mechanisms of lipid signaling. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of research experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.
Required Education and Experience:
+ Appropriate PhD
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
+ Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M system and HSC guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
+ PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, or a related fiend
+ Demonstrated experience in molecular cloning, expression, protein purification, protein crystallization, protein structure determination, biophysical and biochemical assays, and experience in cryo-EM
Responsibilities:
Protein Structural Biology
+ Applies atomistic protein structural approaches, including setting up protein structural analyses (crystallization, structure determination, cryo-EM workflows) and analyzes the data.
Comprehensive IT Support
+ Performs software updates, computer maintenance/organization, solutions in data storage, data presentation in lab meetings.
+ Other duties as assigned.
