Position Information
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a research and extension team in urban horticulture, with an emphasis on environmental crop physiology and urban crop production systems in the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center at Dallas (https://dallas.tamu.edu/about/) . The primary goal is to improve crop yield, quality, and resource use efficiency. The candidate will conduct applied research, primarily in field plots, but will also perform studies in greenhouses and indoor growth chambers.
Responsibilities:
The duties are primarily focused on research activities and require advanced expertise in the field of plant physiology, along with the consistent application of discretion and sound judgment. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
+ Design and conduct experiments in support of various research projects
+ Measure plant responses (e.g., gas exchanges, chlorophyll fluorescence, etc.)
+ Analyze plant nutritional quality including primary and secondary metabolites
+ Analyze data, summarize results, and prepare manuscripts and presentations for research journals and professional meetings
+ Supervise graduate and undergraduate students
+ Assist in grant proposal preparation
+ Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
+ Appropriate PhD in horticulture, or crop science, or closely related disciplines
+ Research experience in outdoor field plots and deficient irrigation for vegetable crops
+ Experience in using data loggers and environmental sensors, including soil moisture sensors, for automated data acquisition
+ Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
+ Ability to publish in refereed journals
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Familiarity with various organic fertilizers and biostimulants
+ Familiarity with spectrophotometers and HPLC for Analysis of phytochemicals

Salary: Compensation for this position is commensurate based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
Position Funding: This position is grant funded and availability is contingent on grant funding.
