What we want The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be involved in the identification of epigenetic combination treatments that will upregulate the MHC-I and MHC-II dependent genes in order to enhance host immune surveillance for anticancer efficacy. Required Education + Appropriate PhD Preferred Qualifications + Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology or related biomedical science + Experience in animal cancer models, tissue culture, molecular biology and protein biochemistry + Experience in epigenetics and host immune surveillance, with technical expertise of FACS, RNA-seq, Co-IP, ChIP and T-cells co-cultures + Experience in performing rodent tumor immunobioassays following approved protocols, using intra-oral, intra-venous, intra-peritoneal and subcutaneous injections, including in syngeneic models of immune prevention/therapy Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others + Must be literate in the English language, and be able to comprehend and follow effectively both written and verbal instructions + Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English + Ability to do independent research in an area related to cancer immunology Responsibilities + Transcriptional Regulation of MHC: Identification of epigenetic combination treatments that will upregulate the MHC-I and MHC-II dependent genes in order to enhance host immune surveillance for anticancer efficacy. + Molecular Work: Design and execute experiments involving epigenetic analyses, immunological assays, and molecular biology techniques as they relate to cancer prevention and treatment. Experimental procedures in vivo as well as in vitro, including co-IP, ChIP, PCR, Q-PCR, FACS, Western analysis, fluorescence microscopy, RNAscope and tissue culture. + Rodent Work: To the highest ethical standards, conduct and monitor breeding of rats and mice. Participate in breeding and genotyping. Carefully monitor and record rodent wellbeing and morbidity. Perform endoscopies and polypectomies on live study animals. Perform necropsies and collection of organs for H&E, molecular, and immunohistochemical work. Administer drugs/compounds to study animals via intra-oral, intra-venous, intra-peritoneal or subcutaneous routes. + Collaborations & Presentations: Participate actively in weekly lab meetings within the center, and with other internal and external departments. Participate in joint projects involving faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students and technicians. Provide aid to graduate students and junior lab personnel. Assist with research grant proposals and generate timely publishable reports for conference and journal presentations. Conduct online literature research into new approaches, prepare tables, graphs, photographs and figures, and assist in manuscripts and grant proposals, with the highest ethical standards and levels of rigor and reproducibility.
