Position Title:Postdoctoral Research Associate - CALS Appointment Type:Post Doc/Trainee Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The Beattie lab is seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct fundamental research focused on the role of oxidative stress mitigation in microbial-based plant protection. The incumbent will investigate strategies to develop and improve microbial inoculants for enhancing soybean tolerance to abiotic stresses such as drought, including by understanding and exploiting microbial interactions with oxidative stress to develop microbes as plant protectants. The candidate will be expected conduct fundamental and applied research in microbial ecophysiology and host -microbe/microbe-microbe interactions, design and execute research experiments, collect, analyze and summarize data results, communicate results to scientific audiences, contribute to the training and mentoring of students, and participate in outreach events to help increase public awareness of plant-microbe interactions. Required Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Microbiology or a closely related field with a strong emphasis on microbiology Preferred Qualifications: + Hands-on experience with microbial physiology and plant-bacterial interactions. + Demonstrated proficiency in the cultivation of diverse bacterial genera. + Familiarity with reactive oxygen species and bacterial and plant stress responses. + Record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals. + Experience designing and conducting experiments and analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing results. + Proficient written and oral communication skills to convey technical information.
