Purpose
The Postdoctoral Researcher will conduct research in the areas of yeast metabolic engineering, including genetic engineering, protein engineering, metabolic modelling, and application of automated high throughput laboratory tools, as well as creating knockouts using both genomic and transcriptomic data, and analyzing targeted and untargeted metabolic data.
Responsibilities:
+ Conduct research in the areas of yeast metabolic engineering.
+ Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and through conference participation.
+ Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
+ Work closely with PI and other team members to draft applications for funding related work.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.

+ PhD
What is helpful:
+ A PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or related fields
+ Relevant industry or postdoctoral experience.
+ Strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, classical genetics and metabolic engineering of microorganisms, including Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yarrowia lipolytica, Pichia pastoris, or other ascomyces yeasts, as well as bacteria, as shown by a relevant publication or job experience.
+ Experience with the design and construction of microbial strains containing heterologous biosynthetic pathways from plants, bacteria, and fungi for the high-level production of target small molecule products.
+ Experience preparing reports, papers, and patent applications, collaborating closely with inventors, scientists, and legal counsel.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills (incl. track record of publications, communicating work to interdisciplinary team members, conferences, etc.).
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
+ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
