POSTPARTUM REGISTERED NURSE - Nights

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Postpartum Registered Nurse to join our team!

JOB SUMMARY:       

Provides direct patient care in the Recovery and Postpartum setting, including both moms and infants. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with providers about changes in patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in the Perinatal Department. Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
2. Able to provide family centered care for a postpartum mother and baby on the mother-baby unit.
3. Able to assess neonate at delivery and perform neonatal resuscitation according to current guidelines. Will complete newborn resuscitation competency within 90 days of hire and recertify quarterly.
4. Able to perform vitals and initial admission and head-to-toe assessments on infants and adults and reassessments as per policy.
5. Implements a teaching plan based on identified learning need and evaluates effectiveness of learning. (Family is included as appropriate).
6. Able to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicted by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
7. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
8. Communicates appropriately any patient care issues and current assessment clearly to charge nurse, co-workers and providers.
9. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
10. Coordinates and supervises patient care, as necessary.
