About the role

The Potato Receiving Grader performs all tests involved in the grading of raw material (safely and efficiently) i.e. raw grade, color test, specific gravity test, bruise-free test etc., in accordance with set Company standards. 

  

Accountabilities: 

Performs all tests involved in the grading of raw material i.e. raw grade, color test, specific gravity test, bruise-free test etc., in accordance with set Company standards. 

Accurately relates / records all required documentation.  

Make sure all paperwork and documentation are in order and turned in. 

Works closely and communicates with Field department regarding incoming trucks as required. 

Operates all the equipment in Potato Receiving in a safe and efficient manner. 

Discusses grading results with production supervisors as required. 

Complete routinely scheduled sanitation tasks including high pressure washing, scrubbing, deep cleaning, waste disposal, and general housekeeping.  

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Be able to attend meetings when required. 

Communicate with maintenance for repairs and scheduling. 

Updating of Grade White board in processing. 

Making sure shifts are covered when short staffed.  

Reporting department issues with supervisors (Ex. breakdowns, staffing issues any other concerns). 

Work with Peeler operator and control room on bin selections. 

Be able to accurately perform bin inventories several times a day.  

Assisting field department with field samples. 

Report any unsafe situations or possible product contamination to supervisor. 

 

Qualifications: 

Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations.   

Should have good oral and written communication skills. 

Must have proven history of safe work habits.  

Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS. 

Must have strong communication skills, ability to follow detailed instructions, and be able to maintain good working relationships with Supervision and coworkers as well as ability to work with minimal supervision. 

Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of Grade 12 education.  

 

Skills: 

Must have or be willing to obtain a valid forklift license. 

Ability to work on a rotating shift basis. 

Successful completion of a 90-day familiarization period is required. 

Physically capable of performing all required duties including heavy lifting (up to 50lbs).
