Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Power Electronics Engineer, where you will work alongside talented Electrical Engineering staff and chief engineers. You will be involved in the concept development, prototype design, integration, and testing of Power Electronics and Li-Ion Battery Systems. These systems include high-power motor drives, power conditioning systems, pulsed power systems, high energy laser systems, and space systems. Your role will be crucial in improving legacy systems and developing new systems that meet innovative project needs.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineering teams to create electrical architecture solutions for new projects.Perform comprehensive electrical engineering analyses for systems and circuits.Document and communicate findings to engineering and program management staff.Provide technical presentations and manage technical effort schedules.Guide and resolve engineering problems, serving as a consulting resource for engineering knowledge.Apply the latest technological advancements to solve complex engineering challenges.Lead cross-functional engineering teams in technical efforts involving Ultra-High Power Lithium-Ion batteries and space-based electrical systems.Contribute to electrical/optical/mechanical engineering efforts with a focus on hardware and personnel safety.Plan and execute technical efforts efficiently, often functioning in a project leadership role.Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on projects.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline.Nine or more years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, seven or more years with a master’s degree, or four or more years with a PhD.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.Experience in Power Electronics, pulsed power systems, and mixed-signal, analog/digital circuit design.Proficiency in Li-Ion Battery Systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with power systems, power supplies, high-voltage pulsed power, and multiphase DC-to-DC converters.Familiarity with embedded controls in power electronics and digital or microprocessor control of power supplies.Experience guiding designs through development and into production.Familiarity with the DoD technical review process.Proficiency in PCB Design Software (e.g., Altium Designer).Experience with SPICE circuit design, modeling, and simulation tools.Familiarity with power supply and power system design tools (e.g., MATLAB Simulink, PLEXIM PLECS, Ridleyworks).Experience with HyperLynx Signal/Power Integrity tools.Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Work Environment
The role involves working in a collaborative and innovative environment focused on cutting-edge electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. The position requires interaction with various departments and provides opportunities to work on critical fleet, space systems, satellites, missile defense, power and energy, and other applications for defense, industrial, and commercial sectors globally.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
