Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Facilities, the primary focus of the Power Generator Technician is providing technical solutions to ensure emergency, paralleling electrical/self-generating equipment is in top operating condition for Yaamava' Resort & Casino operations. They are responsible for repairs and troubleshooting diesel, electrical, or natural gas generators, and assist with system issues. They also maintain, calibrate, and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. When not actively involved in disaster recovery or Central Plant operational activities, they identify vendor outsourced repairs and preventative maintenance that can be brought in-house for cost savings and lead time purposes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Inspects and maintains Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) systems on Tier 4 generators, performs preventative maintenance, commissioning, servicing, and repairing equipment throughout its life, performs OEM warranty work, and starting-up service. Analyzes complex electrical equipment and machinery problems, interpreting maintenance manuals to isolate and correct faults.2. Troubleshoots and diagnoses emergency repair procedures for AC/DC controls, gas, solar, steam, and diesel industrial engines, automatic transfer switches, preventative maintenance, circuit repairs, component replacements, warranty work, and start-up/commissioning on new generators and systems, as well as performs oil and filter repairs, maintenance services, and warranty work.3. Performs testing, calibration, checking, correcting, adjusting and part component replacement services. Performs load bank testing on generator(s) to ensure units are in the proper operating condition and meet applicable code requirements.4. Optimizes plant preventative maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy. Responsible for maintaining logs, manuals, records, blueprints and operating procedures in a neat and professional manner. Provides written reports on control system conditions when required. 5. Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Reports and tracks documents pertaining to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Air Quality Management District (AQMD) required data.6. Assists Utility Plant Operators with daily responsibilities involving Cogen generators. Mentors and trains other facilities team members on how to troubleshoot and maintain Tier 4 generators.7. Provides comprehensive operations and maintenance support for the enterprises distributed generation projects, which typically includes managing both solar and natural gas generation assets, as well as energy storage resources.8. Responsible for supporting the implementation of converting outsourced projects to in-house operations and ensuring future department success.9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in a related field is required.
Minimum four (4) years of experience in the back-up generator industry or a transferable industry is required.
Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
Solid knowledge of basic distribution protective relay testing, breaker function testing, and generator testing is required.
Demonstrated experience working with Tier 4 diesel engines, electrical equipment and machinery is required.
Demonstrated knowledge of how Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) equipment works to support pollution control preferred.
Experience with control circuits and programmable logic controller (PLC), diesel engine repairs, natural gas engine maintenance, switchgear maintenance and repair, generator installation and repair, etc preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Must be able to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
Must have a thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair of generators; advanced knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components; familiarity with solar panels, moderate computer skills; basic knowledge of pertinent Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Environmental Agency (EPA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Advanced knowledge of or ability to learn gas and diesel industrial engine fuel systems and controls is required.
Advanced knowledge of automatic transfer switches and control logic is required.
Must be able to work independently with minimal daily supervision.
Must be able to work in a safe manner at all times.
Ability to read, write and communicate in a professional manner.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30 hr. certificate is required or must have the ability to obtain certificate within one year.
Advanced technical certifications are preferred.
